Golden Slipper winner Vancouver will not be attempting to win the 2-year-old triple crown, with trainer Gai Waterhouse opting to send the unbeaten colt to the spelling paddock.
Waterhouse believes Vancouver will derive more benefit from a spell, than contesting the ATC Sires Produce Stakes, and Champagne Stakes.
“He’s come through the Golden Slipper in great order but he’s still an immature colt with a lot of developing to do,” Waterhouse told News Limited.
“What he has done as a two-year-old has been on raw, natural ability and that is the exciting part.
“I’ve got an unbeaten Golden Slipper-winning colt who still has so much improvement to come next season.’’
Vancouver will return in the spring, where his ultimate aim will be to prove Waterhouse with her first Cox Plate victory.
The Golden Rose and Caulfield Guineas are also likely targets.
