The imported entire Pornichet failed to gain a start in last week’s Group 2 Hollindale Stakes at the Gold Coast, so Gai Waterhouse went off chasing much-needed prizemoney, venturing to Toowoomba.
Pornichet went forward to race outside Volkhere, and at the home turn Pornichet took over from Volkhere and Tim Bell went for home.
Pornichet was never in danger, justifying it’s $2.50 favouritism and it is now rising up the earnings table since arriving in Australia.
Pornichet will now target the Group I Doomben Cup next week and has already been installed as favourite.
The talented entire won the Group 3 Neville Sellwood Stakes (2000m) on March 28, and was 5th in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Royal Randwick on April 6.
Don’t be surprised where this horse end up, be that a Cox Plate, Caulfield Cup or a Melbourne Cup eventually.
