Red Belly Ratings members posted a small profit of 1.54 units on Saturday to finish their first week of betting in 2014 with a profit of 9.32 units.
Members were advised to bet into five races at Randwick and Doomben meetings, coming up with two winners:
• Mishani Persuader ($8 rated a $5.50 chance)
• Woodbine ($3.40 rated a $2.80 chance)
In the other races we invested into, Longeron ($3.30 advised on Thursday) ran 3rd, as did our saver selection Mount Nebo ($14) in the final event at Randwick.
Some members reported backing the winner of the Inglis Classic, Peggy Jean at $11, on the back of this message from Ed:
Because VINNIE EAGLE occupies 30% of the market the query on the race is BIG therefore HARD TO BET.
BOOMWAA is a seasoned professional and proven, PEGGY JEAN is very strong.
We DO NOT like guessing in here, so it’s now hard to bet confidently.
Had PEGGY JEAN drew better it looked a great e/w bet and may still be. NO BET SORRY.
We were not on Peggy Jean for the reasons stated above, but Ed still regularly puts out his thoughts on races he’s not investing into, to aid members who like to do their own thing in conjunction with the SMS selections provided by Red Belly.
Some members also decided to crush back on Longeron, who we backed at $3.30 on Thursday and was layable at $2.60 on Saturday.
Ed alerted members to this possibility with this SMS on Saturday:
Crush opportunity. We backed LONGERON at $3.30 in race 7. Layable at $2.60 now.
So you could lay it back and have a free bet going for 70 cents x 2.33 units.
Clearly we were happy to let the bet ride and lost, but well done to the members who recovered their outlay by crushing back. It turned out to be the right call on this occasion.
