Peter Snowden’s super filly Earthquake will begin her march towards the $3.5 million Golden Slipper, in Saturday’s Group 2 Riesling Stakes at Rosehill.
The Riesling is shaping as a genuine Slipper trial, with the top four fillies in betting, Earthquake, Memorial, Mossfun and Alpha Miss all engaged.
Snowden prepared Sepoy to win the Blue Diamond-Golden Slipper double in 2011, and he couldn’t be happier with Earthquake as she prepares for her shot at history.
“Earthquake only had four days out at the farm after the Blue Diamond and her recent work on the track has been very good. She has pulled up really well in the wind after each gallop,’’ Snowden told News Corp Australia.
“Sepoy was wound up with three runs and as fit as I could get him for the Blue Diamond but Earthquake only had two starts.
“I didn’t want to sound arrogant before the Blue Diamond but the filly was still on the way up.
“She came out and ran so well in the Blue Diamond and she has been going ‘excellent’ since, I’m really happy with her,’’ said Snowden.
Earthquake is currently $2.80 in Slipper betting with TAB Fixed Odds.
