It was another winning day for followers of Red Belly Ratings on Saturday’s Flemington and Randwick meetings, with the winners including $21 chance Forever Loved and Epsom winner He’s Your Man at $6.50.
Members won upwards of 5 units, with the ratings identifying the following overlay winners:
• Forever Loved ($21 rated a $12 chance)
• Fontein Ruby ($8.50 rated $5.50)
• He’s Your Man ($6.50 rated $3.30)
• Under the Louvre ($5.50)
• Vancouver ($4.80)
• Chautauqua ($3.40 rated $3.20)
We executed strategies in four other races but were unsuccessful, with Opinions ($17) running second in The Metropolitan, and Brambles ($13) finishing third in the Turnbull Stakes.
Our form expert Ed Kennett was quite keen on the chances of He’s Your Man in the Epsom, having rated it a $3.30 chance when almost double that price was available.
He explained his reasoning to members in the new comments section of our ratings:
HE’S YOUR MAN won the Kingstown Town at Rosehill last start at 2000m. Back to 1600 is queried by some, but not me.
Freshened, fully fit and 52 kg. Dont be put off with Bowman not on.. he can’t ride at 52.5.
Has a great turn of foot that should be able to be reproduced given the freshen. We like the prep going into this and rate this horse well.
The Robert Smerdon trained Fontein Ruby was another horse that was ignored by the market somewhat, but well identified in Ed’s comments:
FONTEIN RUBY if you take a look at the last run, where it was coming into the event off a break, which wasn’t ideal, it actually did a particularly good job of it.
Sectionally it was and to the eye it was as well. We anticipate a better performance again today with further fitness and Smerdon Zahra combination again is always a good thing. Good chance at odds.
Ed also identified the 2-year-old winner Vancouver in the Breeders’ Plate through trial analysis.
