Polanski Set To Kick Off Autumn Campaign

Robbie Laing hopes to kick off the campaign of Victoria Derby winning 3-year-old Polanski in Saturday’s CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) at Flemington.

Polanski was scratched from last week’s Autumn Stakes at Caulfield with a skin infection, forcing Laing to map out an alternate route to the Australian Guineas on March 1 at Flemington.

The colt will now face what appears to be a much tougher first-up assignment on paper, with several classy gallopers, including Prince Harada and Hucklebuck, nominated for the CS Hayes.

Laing insists there is nothing physically wrong with the $4000 bargain buy, but he doesn’t want the son of Rakti to head to the racetrack until Polanski is 100%.
