The Peter Moody-trained Flamberge upstaged a host of more-fancied rivals to take out the $500,000 Goodwood at Morphettville on Saturday.
The gelding was specked at odds ($31 into $21) and positioned on the speed for Vlad Duric, before kicking on strongly in the straight to salute by 3/4 of a length from Lord Of The Sky.
Under The Louvre was a further half-length away in third, making it a trifecta for Melbourne-trained horses in the Group 1 sprint.
Race favourite Black Heart Bart was beaten for speed early, but stoked up late to charge into fourth, less than 2 lengths from the winner.
It’s the second time Moody has won Adelaide’s feature sprint, following the champion mare Black Caviar’s triumph in 2012.
“I said before the race that the last time I had a runner in this race I think there were eight in it and she was was at $1.04,’’ Moody told News Corp.
“I wasn’t near as confident today.”
