Star 3-year-olds Complacent and Savvy Nature have drawn wide barriers for Saturday’s $1.5 million VRC Derby (2500m) at Flemington.

The John O’Shea trained Savvy Nature is the new favourite at $4.60 despite drawing gate 13, while Peter Snowden’s Complacent has drifted to $5, after drawing barrier 16.

Complacent will jump from barrier 14 if the two emergencies don’t get a run.

Snowden’s other runners – San Diego (6) and Tupac Amaru (8), drew much better.

The Robbie Laing trainer Polanski is on the fourth line of betting at $7.50, after coming up with barrier 1.
