Earthquake Draws Wide For Golden Slipper

Posted on April 1st, 2014 by Red Belly Sports

Unbeaten filly Earthquake has drifted slightly in betting for Saturday’s Group 1 $3.5 million Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill, after drawing barrier 13.

The Peter Snowden trained galloper is now a $2.30 chance with TAB Fixed Odds. There was speculation Earthquake could firm into odds-on if she drew a good barrier.

No horse has ever won the Slipper from barrier 13, but the likely scratching of emergency Scratch Me Lucky means Earthquake is set to jump from gate 12.

Snowden’s other two runners – Ghibellines and Memorial – had contrasting fortunes, drawing barriers 2 and 17 respectively.

Second favourite Mossfun is a $5.50 chance after drawing gate 11, while Jabali will jump from the rails, the same barrier as the last two winners – Overreach and Pierro.
