The lightly raced Master Of Arts is being aimed for the Group One Queensland Derby (2200m) at Doomben on June 6 having won today in the Terminus Hotel Healesville Plate at Caulfield.

Master Of Arts has graduated from a debut Terang maiden win to success over 2000m on Saturday in four starts with the promise of more to come.

Stable foreman Jeremy Rogers said:

“In two weeks time there’s another 2000 metre race here and he’ll run in that and all going well after that he’ll go up to Brisbane.”

“This year the Queensland Derby is 2200 metres and he’s a Mastercraftsman and if it’s wet he should handle it all right.”

Jockey Jye McNeil said Master Of Arts was worked up behind the barriers before the race and raced greenly.

“When he got to the front he wanted to duck in and have a look around,” McNeil said.

“Before the race he got really worked up so I think there’s quite a lot of improvement still to come from him.”
