Expensive colt Taaj will make his debut for the Hawkes stable, in Saturday’s William Hill Sporting Chance Handicap (1100m) at Rosehill.
The 2-year-old son of Street Cry was purchased for $1.5 million dollars as a yearling for His Excellency Nasser Lootah and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum.
“He is a nice horse that has done everything right and is ready to go to the races,” co-trainer Michael Hawkes told Fairfax Media.
“He had a trial and is getting better all the time.
“At our place it doesn’t matter if they are having their first start or won 17 [like stable star Our Boy Malachi], we want them to show their best.”
